Sean,I saw your blog post on noimpact and thought to tell you about a people here in America that still live in the same manner as they did 150 years ago. Completely off the grid.
Although they have communities all over the country the ones I associate with are located in Central Indiana. They are Amish/German Baptist. Devote believers in God, but their lifestyle is exactly what you speak of and could be an inspiration for your dream.
All helping each other in a tight community, self sufficient with close family orientation.

ok, so whenever you get back, i would assume you would have a line around the block of volunteers who want to live in that rat race retirement community - me included. that is exactly what i want but have no idea how to create. I would love to hear more and be a part of it!
